The highly sensitive person has a wealth of books and expertise available to them thanks to the work of the following experts and coaches. In 1999, Elaine Aron, Ph.D. released her first book on the highly sensitive trait and has been a prolific author of various aspects of HSPness ever since. She and many others are thankfully bringing the significant and valuable HSP qualities to public awareness at a time when we need more sensitivity in the world.


Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D is the pioneer of HSP awareness. David Ritchey wrote The H.I.S.S. of the A.S.P. Understanding the Anomalously Sensitive Person.  The book is based on his research and findings, and provides some scientific insight into sensitivity, has very useful data and insights into the range of HSP capabilities, as well as HSPs and Myers Briggs information. Dr. Ted Zeff, Ph.D has written some important books for sensitive people. Mari J. Dionne is an HSP and Holistic Health Practitioner, board certified through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, specializing in nutrition, supplements, and alternative remedies. She holds a degree in Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counseling from Pierce College in Washington. In addition to her formal education she has studied various forms of energy balancing. Mari combines her HSP empathy with her education, knowledge, and expertise to help other highly sensitive people relieve stress syndromes doctors have a hard time treating. Sharon Heller, Ph.D is an expert on sensory defensiveness derived from her own experiences. Sensory defensiveness which applies to HSPs is the characteristic of having a very high sensitivity to light, sounds, and touch. Barrie Jaeger, Ph.D. is another HSP whose challenges have led her to investigate the world of work for HSPs. Her insights are fresh and very helpful for HSPs because she helps HSPs to categorize work in a way that helps them navigate the world of work with a different eye. Jenna Avery is an experienced, trained coach for highly sensitive people. She is one herself.
