The highly sensitive person has a wealth of books and expertise available to
them thanks to the work of the following experts and coaches. In 1999, Elaine Aron,
Ph.D. released her first book on the highly sensitive trait and has been a prolific
author of various aspects of HSPness ever since. She and many others are thankfully
bringing the significant and valuable HSP qualities to public awareness at a time
when we need more sensitivity in the world.
Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D is the pioneer of HSP awareness. David Ritchey wrote The H.I.S.S. of the A.S.P. Understanding the Anomalously Sensitive Person. The book is based on his research and findings, and provides some scientific insight into sensitivity, has very useful data and insights into the range of HSP capabilities, as well as HSPs and Myers Briggs information. Dr. Ted Zeff, Ph.D has written some important books for sensitive people. They are The Highly Sensitive Person's Survival Guide: Essential Skills for Living Well in an Overstimulating World, Highly Sensitive Person's Companion: Daily Exercises for Calming Your Senses in an Overstimulating World, and The Strong, Sensitive Boy: Help Your Son Become a Happy, Confident Man. Mari J. Dionne is an HSP and Holistic Health Practitioner, board certified through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, specializing in nutrition, supplements, and alternative remedies. She holds a degree in Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counseling from Pierce College in Washington. In addition to her formal education she has studied various forms of energy balancing. Jenna Avery is an experienced, trained coach for highly sensitive people. She is one herself. She has a website that offers many tools for the personal development of HSPs, a network of professionals who provides many types of assistance for HSPs, great resources as well as excellent courses that help HSPs better handle their issues with the energy of others as well as the boundary issues that create social and life challenges for sensitives.
