International Dyslexia Association: The oldest organization for dyslexia and language learning disorder types of HSP disease with forty-five offices in the US and Canada and twenty-two global partners. Council for Learning Disabilities: An international organization promoting evidence-based teaching, and collaboration, research, leadership, and advocacy. It is a professional organization of individuals committed to the education and quality of life for individuals with learning disabilities and others who experience learning challenges.
Teaching LD: Since the 1980's this volunteer organization, one
of
17 special interest groups of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the
largest international professional organization of its kind, has been dedicated to
improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with
disabilities, and/or the gifted. HSP disease includes learning disabilities and can
affected the gifted.
Stuttering:
National Stuttering Association: Founded in 1977, NSA began its
advocacy with the creation of self help groups which now number 125. It has
been instrumental in building awareness and support for stutterers and an
international base of professionals and advocates for the cause of stutterers - who
suffer from this HSP disease.
Stuttering Foundation of America: Founded in 1947, the Stuttering
Foundation of America offers online resources for parents, children, adult
stutterers, educations and supports research on behalf of the stuttering
population.
International Stuttering Association: ISA is the collaborative effort
of the World Congresses for People Who Stutter and ELSA, the European League of
Stuttering Associations. Its mission is to educate, communicate, collaborate,
support and facilitate all forms of support for stutterers.
Delayed Speech:
Late Talkers: This organization provides a large database of online
information support and research to assist in helping late talkers and parent of
late talkers. Late talking is a form of HSP disease.
Apraxia-Kids: Also known as CASANA, this organization raises public
awareness about apraxia, offers networking and partnership resources, education,
and advocacy for children with apraxia.
ADD/ADHD:
Attention Deficit Disorder Association: Twenty years ago ADDA
was founded to provide information, resources and networking opportunities to help
adults with Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), an HSP disease, lead
better lives. It focuses on the diagnosis, treatments, strategies and techniques
for helping adults with AD/HD lead better lives.
CHADD: CHADD has over 16,000 members in 200 local chapters throughout
the U.S. Chapters offer support for individuals, parents, teachers, professionals,
and others.

Tourette Syndrome:
The
Tourette Syndrome Association: Founded in 1972, Tourette Syndrome Association
is the only national voluntary non-profit membership organization in this
field. Their purpose is to identify the cause of, find the cure for and
control the effects of Tourette Syndrome, an HSP disease, with resources and
referrals for those who need assistance.
Asperger Syndrome:
US
Autism & Asperger Association: This organization, founded in 1994,
provides Autism and Asperger education, support, and solutions. Its stated mission
is to provide immediate solutions through expert guidance and compassionate
support, consolidate the overwhelming amount of information and resources to
simplify the lives of all associated with the HSP disease of autism, individualize
education on treatments and services for the diverse population of those affected
and provide networking opportunities for parents, professionals, students,
educators, and individuals.
Oasis @ MAAP: A collaboration of OASIS and MAAP, this site provides

Down's Syndrome:
National Association for Down's Syndrome: Founded in 1961 and
based in Chicago by parents who chose to go against medical advice and raised their
children with the HSP Disease of Down's syndrome at home, the National Association
for Down's Syndrome has made it easier for later generations of individuals with
Down syndrome to be accepted by their families and communities, to develop their
capabilities, and to work towards independence. They provide information, support
and advocacy.
National Down Syndrome Society: The mission of the National Down

UK Down's Synrome Association: The only UK organization focused
solely on Down's syndrome, it has become a network of 126 regional volunteer groups

knowledge of the condition and champion the rights of people with Down's syndrome,
an HSP disease of highly sensitive people.
Turner Syndrome:
Turner Syndrome Society of the US: This organozation provides
health-related resources to patients, families and physicians for the diagnosis and
treatment of Turner syndrome with a network of over 600 members and 100
volunteers.
Turner Syndrome Foundation: The goal of the TSF is to support
research and develop programs which will increase professional awareness and
enhance medical care of those affected by the HSP disease, Turner Syndrome.
They offer professional, medical and educational resources.
Turner Syndrome Support Society - UK: TSSS offers support, advice and
information to women and girls with Turner Syndrome and their families. It partners
with relevant specialists to promote a good basis for education and management of
Turner Syndrome.and works with other support groups, both domestic and
international to help develop awareness and greater understanding of Turner
Syndrome worldwide.
Klinefelter Syndrome:
American Association for Klinefelter Syndrome: AKSIS is dedicated to
providing accurate and current information about Klinefelter Syndrome and is a
network for individuals, families, and anyone interesting in learning more about
Klinefelter Syndrome.
Klinefelter Syndrome Association - UK: In promoting the health and the
welfare of all persons affected by Klinefelter's Syndrome the Association seeks to
raise the profile of the condition with the medical profession, other public and
private bodies and the general public so that all understand its implications, not
only for the individual and those around them of this HSP disease.

Spina Bifida Association: Since 1973, SBA has been the only

Scoliosis Association: Founded in 1974, this organization serves as a

National Scoliosis Foundation: NSF is a patient led organization
founded in 1976. Its focus is on promoting public awareness, providing reliable
information, fostering ongoing research in the field, and educating and nurturing
the community of those affected by scoliosis.
Cleft palate/Harelip:
The American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association: Cleft Palate
Foundation operates the CLEFTLINE – 1-800-24-CLEFT – and produces free
publications. The CLEFTLINE is an 800-toll free service providing information to
callers about clefts and other craniofacial anomalies. Callers can request
information about cleft palate/craniofacial teams and parent-patient support groups
in their local region.
Operation Smile: Operation Smile is a mobilized force of medical
professionals and caring individuals who provide safe, effective reconstructive
surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft
palate. Since 1982, Operation Smile — through the help of dedicated medical
volunteers — has provided free surgeries to children around the world. As one
of the most prominent children’s charities in the world and with a presence
in over 60 countries, they are able to heal children’s smiles and bring hope
for a better future for so many children suffering from this HSP disease.
Cleft
Lip and Palate Association - UK: CLAPA provides support and information to new
parents, specialized bottles and teats for babies, activities for children and
young people, advice on accessing treatment for adults, and volunteering
opportunities as individuals or through our branches. They work closely with the
specialist cleft teams and generic health professionals to ensure that people
receive the best possible care.
Hypopigmentation
National Oranization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation: NOAH is
a volunteer organization that provides information and support regarding albinism
and related conditions, promotes public and professional education about these
conditions, Encourages research and funding that will lead to improved diagnosis
and management of albinismn, an HSP disease, and provides networking for those with
special interests related to albinism such as minority groups and Hermansky-Pudlak

Crohn's
and Colitis Foundation of America: CCFA is a non-profit, volunteer-driven

medical institutions, nurtures investigators at the early stages of their careers,
and finances underdeveloped areas of research.
National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease UK:

American Diabetes Association: Their purpose is to prevent and cure

American Thyroid Association: ATA is the leading organization focused
on thyroid biology and the prevention and treatment of thyroid disorders through

NARSAD Brain and Behavior Research: The Brain and Behavior Research

and Depression) is committed to alleviating the suffering of mental illness by
awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific
research. 100% of all donor contributions for research are invested in NARSAD

The Huxley Institute: The Huxley Institute-American Schizophrenia

NARSAD: The Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (formerly NARSAD, the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression) is committed to alleviating the suffering of mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research. 100% of all donor contributions for research are invested in NARSAD Grants leading to discoveries in understanding causes and improving treatments of HSP diseases and disorders in children and adults, such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and anxiety disorders like obsessive-compulsive and post-traumatic stress disorders.
Suicide:
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: AFSP invests in
groundbreaking research, new educational campaigns, innovative demonstration
projects and critical policy work. By increasing the number of chapters in the
organization, they are expanding their assistance to people whose lives have been
affected by suicide, reaching out to offer support and offering opportunities to
become involved in prevention.
International Association for Suicide Prevention: This organization
aims to prevent suicidal behaviour, alleviate its effects, and provide a forum for
academics, mental health professionals, crisis workers, volunteers and
suicide survivors.
Sleep Disorders:
American Sleep Association: ASA is a national organization focused on
improving public awareness about sleep disorders and sleep health, promoting sleep
medicine research, and providing a portal for communication between patients,
physicians/healthcare professionals, corporations, and scientists.
American Academy of Sleep Medicine: AASM is the only professional
society dedicated exclusively to the medical subspecialty of sleep medicine. As the
leading voice in the field of sleep medicine, the AASM sets standards and promotes
excellence in health care, education and research.
National Sleep Foundation: The National Sleep Foundation is a
charitable, educational, and scientific not-for-profit organization dedicated to
improving sleep health and safety through education, public awareness, and
advocacy.
Chemical Dependence
International Association for Pain and Chemical Dependency:
The
International Association for Pain and Chemical Dependency is an international
organization dedicated to promoting appropriate and effective treatment for all
patients with pain, including individuals with substance abuse, mental health or
other co-occurring problems that may make treatment more
challenging.
Narcotics
Anonymous: Narcotics Anonymous sprang from the Alcoholics Anonymous Program of
the late 1940s. The primary service provided by Narcotics Anonymous is the NA group
meeting where, like AA, members support each others efforts toward a healthy
life.
National Institute on Drug Abuse: NIDA's mission is to lead
bring the power of science to bear on the HSP disease of drug abuse and addiction
through the strategic support and conduct of research across a broad range of
disciplines and the rapid and effective dissemination and use of the results of
that research to significantly improve prevention, treatment and policy as it
relates to drug abuse and addiction.
